Accounting Manager
- Open Position:
Zenoss is looking for an Accounting Manager responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the accounting for the entire revenue cycle, arranging for audits of the Company's accounts and prepare reports required by management and by regulatory agencies. This candidate will work closely with all parts of the organization and should possess good interpersonal skills. The candidate will coordinate the month-end close and year-end closing process.
- Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Good understanding of GAAP
- Prepare monthly journal entries for posting in the general ledger
- Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
- Prepare monthly financial statements for review by management, including income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows and roll forward of stockholder's equity
- Review monthly expenditures for appropriateness and classification within financial statements
- Prepare monthly software bookings schedule, amortization support and journal entries
- Prepare monthly invoices to clients on a timely basis and as scheduled
- Maintain deferred revenue reconciliation and record monthly revenue journal entries
- Manage the accounts receivable collections process
- Prepare monthly commission expense statements for sales personnel
- Maintain database of fixed assets and prepare related journal entries
- Prepare audit schedules in preparation of year-end audit
- Provide information to outside accountants for preparation of the annual tax returns
- Maintain monthly and yearly accounting compliance calendar
- Manage Accounts Payable process and vendor 1099
- Adhoc projects as assigned by the CFO
- Qualifications include:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required;
- 3-5 years experience in a related field required.
- Skills:
- Computer proficiency
- Proficient knowledge of Excel, problem solving and analytical skills required.
- Effective time management and supervisory skills
- Effective problem solving skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize work with little supervision
- Accurate typing skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Familiarity with Software Revenue Recognition

Client Support Engineer II
- Open Position:
This position will provide technical support for clients using Zenoss. This full time position requires that you be available to work with Zenoss clients during the hours of 6pm – 9pm Eastern (western US timezones or flexible work hours acceptable) and be available for occasional travel to customer sites as well as quarterly meetings in Annapolis, MD. As part of a team of on-call engineers, some evening and weekend work may be required (on-call time scheduled in advance).
- Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Field customer support requests, perform problem determination, and deliver solutions
- Forward higher order issues to Tier 3 support
- Troubleshoot and remedy Zenoss issues at customer sites
- Track open customer issues, communicate status to customers
- Interface with engineering to develop and test solutions
- Work with engineering to install and test new versions of products
- Follow up with customers to verify solutions are successful
- Proactively contact customers to ensure they are pleased
- Assist product management in developing and prioritizing enhancement lists for products
- Communicate repetitive customer issues and relaying customer experiences
- Develop web-based tools to assist customers such as FAQs, online customer status requests, etc
- Qualifications include:
- Three years' experience providing technical support for systems with software
- Experience with installation and technical support for Linux-based software products
- Experience supporting or using products with TCP/IP and SNMP networking components
- Experience with Linux and Windows system administration
- Intermediate understanding of Python
- Good phone and email skills, positive customer-centric attitude
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Organized, self-starter with an ability to follow through on issues under minimal supervision
- Skilled technical writer able to document problems and solutions for customers (posting FAQs) and other technical support personnel

Human Resources Generalist
- Open Position:
The HR Generalist will develop and administer human resources policies, programs and practices for Zenoss. Maintain expertise of HR functions such as employee relations, employee benefits, training and employee events, recruitment and HR administration. The candidate will maintain an attitude and philosophy consistent with Zenoss' standards and recommend solutions to the CFO. Promotes diversity, achievement and inclusion.
- Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Employee Relations:
- Help develop programs to foster adoption of desired corporate culture in concert with Senior Management.
- Work independently with managers and employees to settle basic work-related conflicts through advice and recommendations. Ensure documentation is accurate and consistent with Zenoss' philosophy.
- Recommend solutions to the CFO when repetition of individual problems indicates negative trends.
- Manage performance evaluation system and review process.
- Recommend, evaluate and draft policies and procedures as necessary.
- Manage exit interview process, tracking and analysis.
Employee Benefits:
- Administer all aspects of US benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, life insurance and retirement.
- Maintain eligibility and enrollment data in all benefit carrier databases.
- Reconcile benefits invoices from all vendors, working with Finance to issue payments accordingly.
- Work in conjunction with Senior Management and various outside firms to conduct in-depth audits of benefits and retirement plans.
- Analyze and recommend improvements and additions to current benefits.
- Research new trends in employee benefits and make recommendations based on this research.
Payroll
- Create and maintain payroll data for all domestic employees in the ADP system.
- Review/audit timesheets for leave taken & supervisory approval.
- Administer record and transmit bi-monthly payroll information.
- Perform updates to the payroll system of all appropriate personnel and benefit information.
- Ensure tax compliance at the local, state and federal level, including worker's compensation and unemployment insurance.
- Ensure proper support and documentation for all compensation related matters.
Training and Employee Events
- Create and implement organizational training and employee development efforts.
- Coordinate quality employee events for Annapolis, Austin and remote offices.
- Work on various employee projects throughout the year.
Recruiting:
- Create and maintain system for tracking candidates and recruiting contacts.
- Conduct reference checks and request background and credit checks as necessary
- Recommend specific individuals for specific openings – applicants as well as present staff.
- Post job advertisements on Zenoss' homepage and various external sites as deemed necessary by the hiring manager.
- Conduct preliminary telephone interviews and recommend top candidates for consideration.
- Conduct in-person interviews with top candidates.
- Issue offer letters and new hire packets to incumbents.
- Communicate recruiting updates to Business Operations Team.
HR Administration:
- Develop and maintain HR related corporate policies and employee handbook.
- Review for accuracy and update the employee personal information at least once every 12 months.
- Maintain the company's personnel files and records consisting of individual employee files, application and resume files, and benefit plan records.
- Analyze and recommend systems to make record keeping optimally efficient.
- Respond to inquiries for salary and employment verifications.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field. PHR strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-6 years experience in a progressively responsible generalist position.
- Requires knowledge of local, state and federal employment law and basic principles of human resources.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and the Internet.
- Ability to work independently with excellent follow-through
- Ability to build relationships across the organization.
- Strong customer service orientation, project management and follow through skills.

- Open Position:
Zenoss is looking to expand its development team. The user interface programmer position will focus on extending and improving our web application using Ajax techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience in this realm but will also be able to learn new technologies quickly. As a startup company we move quickly and candidate must be able to work well in a dynamic environment.

- Building a cross browser Web 2.0 / Ajax user interface
- Giving input on design and usability of our application
