What an amazing week of giving back to our community! From our school supply drive, where employees donated to Communities In Schools of Central Texas, to a team of Zenoss employees working at the Thinkery, a children’s museum in Austin, Texas, to looking back at past Zenoss Cares volunteer efforts, it’s been great to have the opportunity to feature the many volunteer opportunities the Zenoss team has had throughout the year.
We know that all of you don’t live in the Austin area and may not be able to volunteer for these organizations, so that’s where VolunteerMatch comes into play.
Haven’t heard of VolunteerMatch? Well, you’re in for a real treat.
VolunteerMatch launched nearly 20 years ago and is now the web’s largest volunteer engagement network — home to more than 100,000 volunteer opportunities. There’s something for everyone, including you! Getting started is simple: Volunteers can search for local or virtual volunteer opportunities on VolunteerMatch, then filter their results based on cause — such as disaster relief or education and literacy — or by skills required — like accounting, coding or social media. Volunteers can also select whether they're looking for family- and kid-friendly volunteer opportunities or filter for opportunities based on age range. The advanced search page makes filtering a piece of cake, so volunteers can find opportunities that are perfect for them and fit into their busy schedules.
[Quiz: What Kind of Volunteer Are You?]
Here at Zenoss, we knew that creating our Zenoss Cares team would empower our employees to give back. And by taking part in these efforts, employees will undoubtedly grow both personally and professionally. In fact, there are even studies that show that volunteering is good for you.
So, if the company you work for doesn’t have an organized volunteer program, consider starting one — or find out what VolunteerMatch opportunities are right for you in your corner of the world. We’d love to hear what places you find!
